Note: This document pertains to your institutional account, which is used to access campus systems. For information regarding your new student email address, please refer to the separate communication sent by the Office of Information Technology.
Despite the upcoming changes to student email, your access to campus systems will not be affected. You will continue to log in to Inside KCC, Okta, Campus WiFi, and Pharos exactly as you do today. Your institution account password will also remain unchanged.
What is my institution account?
Starting April 6, your institution account username will follow the format firstname.lastname##@students.kbcc.cuny.edu. The ## represents the last two digits of your CUNYFirst EMPLID.
For example: A student named Calvin Hobbes with an EMPLID ending in 21 would have the institution account calvin.hobbes21@students.kbcc.cuny.edu.
Where will I use this account?
Use your institution account to access any campus resource, including:
- Websites — any site ending in kbcc.cuny.edu or Kingsborough.edu
- Applications — Okta, ExamSoft, DynamicForms
- Systems — VDI, Citrix, Pharos
- Services — Campus WiFi
This account looks like an email address — is it the same thing?
Your institution account looks like an email address and, until now, it was your campus email address. Going forward, your email address and your institution account are two separate things.
Important: You cannot use your new CUNY student email address to log in to any campus system. CUNY requires that these two accounts remain separate.
Your institutional account may look like an email address and, until now, it has also served as your campus email. Going forward, your email address and your institutional account will be two separate credentials.
Is my institution account password the same as my new email password?
No. Your institution account password is separate from your CUNY student email password. The two passwords are independent and may be different. To change your institution account password, visit Inside KCC and select Forgot/Change Password.
Note: this only updates your institution account password — will not affect your CUNY email password.
