A Season of Thanks

11/22/2023

Dear College Community,

I can hardly believe that tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day!.  I know many people are preparing big meals, eagerly awaiting a big spread of food, traveling to family, or preparing for family to visit.  For some Thanksgiving is the most favorite holiday of the year, but for others who don’t have anywhere to go, who don’t know where their next meal will come from, and who are without family, Thanksgiving can be difficult.  And then there are people like me,  who believe that Thanksgiving is just another day.

Growing up I was taught that I shouldn’t wait until Thanksgiving to show appreciation, just like I shouldn’t wait until Valentines, or someone’s birthday to tell or show them how much I love and appreciate them.  So, I do my very best in big and small ways and through community service to make a difference for others and to let my family and friends know how special they are all throughout the year.

If our Theater Arts Program’s incredible and recent production of Everybody was a timely reminder about how we live our lives, then living a life of gratitude must be a necessary complement.

I remain ever grateful for all that each of you do to support student success, each other and our college.  I wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving. Day.   May this season of thanks and gratitude be perennial.
