Announcing Althea Maduramente - Interim Dean of Student Affairs

July 1, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

I'm excited to share that Dr. Althea Maduramente is being appointed Interim Dean of Student Affairs at the college, effective today. In this new (and newly established) role, Althea will report directly to Dr. Sharon Warren Cook, Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

She brings to this position a strong record of inclusive practices, cross-campus collaboration, and culturally responsive leadership. Over the past four years, she has led the college’s Student Wellness Services, and more recently also directed Access-Ability Services, expanding our holistic supports for students with disabilities. She has led with a thoughtful balance of vision, compassion, and practical decision-making.

A proud immigrant raised in Brooklyn, Althea understands the importance of building spaces where people feel they belong. As Interim Dean, she is committed to advancing the values that have shaped her leadership: fostering innovative, student-centered, and affirming environments where all students feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Dr. Maduramente holds a B.S. in Neurobiology and Behavior from Cornell University, an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Brooklyn College, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University at Buffalo. She has focused on supporting college students in various clinical, academic, and administrative roles at prior institutions, including Rutgers, Stony Brook University, Pratt Institute, and Brooklyn College.

I am so excited to see the great work that she and her colleagues will accomplish in this new structure. This work will build on the improvements to quality and comprehensiveness of student services made by this amazing staff under Sharon Warren Cook's leadership over the past several years.

Please join me in congratulating her.
Regards,

Suri Duitch
