Honors Activities
Honors Program scholars can participate in a variety of academic experiences, including the following:
- All-Honors sections of credit-bearing courses: All-Honors sections of credit-bearing courses are only open to Honors Program scholars. These courses are designed to challenge and support honors students by offering a more sophisticated level of academic work and academic engagement.
- Honors-level work in non-honors courses through Honors Enrichment Components: Honors Enrichment Components (HECs) are offered to a small group of honors and/or honors-eligible students. Honors Enrichment Components require a minimum of three honors or honors-eligible students willing to participate in 15 hours or more of additional course, or co-curricular, work with the help of a faculty mentor. For more information, please contact the Honors Program office.
- Honors-level work in non-honors courses through Honors Contracts: Honors Contracts (HCs) are independent scholarly papers and projects that honors and/or honors-eligible students complete in conjunction with a faculty mentor. Honors Contract papers typically run between 10-15 pages excluding bibliography while Honors Contract projects typically run between a 30-45 minute viewing time. For more information, please contact the Honors Program office.
- Special co-curricular programs such as the Vassar College Exploring Transfer Program, the Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society, the Honors Journal, Distinctions, the Honors Reading Circle, and the Honors Assembly, honors student leadership organization.
