Modules
What are Modules/Sessions?
Each college term (Fall or Spring) is split into two sessions:
- Fall Term:
- Session 1 = Fall classes
- Session 2 = Winter classes
- Spring Term:
- Session 1 = Spring classes
- Session 2 = Summer classes
Important Financial Aid Info:
- To get financial aid for Winter or Summer (Session 2), you must pre-register by the
7th day of the Fall or Spring term.
- The 7th day is the last day to add/drop a class for each term. Please review the Academic Calendar for more information.
- You must be registered for at least 12 credits in your major (total between Session 1 + Session 2) by the 7th day of the term.
- Financial aid for each term is paid out during Session 1.
- If you're part-time in Session 1 and don’t pre-register for Session 2 by the 7th day, you won’t get aid for Session 2.
- If you pre-register for Session 2 but don’t attend, you may have to pay back the aid for those classes.
- If you didn’t take classes in Session 1, you can still receive Pell for Session 2 only.
For NY State TAP (Tuition Assistance Program):
- TAP will only be paid once you're actually attending at least 12 credits in your major—even if some are in Session 2.
Example:
John takes 9 credits in Fall (Session 1) and 3 more in Winter (Session 2). His TAP award will be paid out after he starts his Winter class. He won’t owe tuition while waiting for TAP to disburse.
