Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation

We offer degrees in four different academic majors:

Community Health
Associate of Science Degree (A.S.)

The mission of the Community Health Program is to provide students with a foundation for diverse careers in health promotion, disease prevention, health care administration, and health education. The program is designed for transfer to baccalaureate programs within CUNY and to private institutions. Community Health majors can choose from the following concentrations in the field:

Health Sciences AS
Associate of Science Degree (A.S.)

The Health Sciences AS degree is designed as a generalized health degree with primarily introductory courses for students who want to explore different academic aspects of health as well as careers in health-related fields.

Exercise Science
Associate of Science Degree (A.S.)

The mission of the Exercise Science A.S. degree program is to provide students with a foundational degree to transfer to a baccalaureate program in Exercise Science or related field. With further education at the bachelors and graduate level, students may pursue a wide variety of career paths such as Athletic Trainer, Exercise Physiologist, Personal Trainer, Health and Wellness Coach, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Physical Education Teacher and many other allied health fields.

Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.)

The mission of the Physical Education Program is to prepare students for occupations in athletics, sports management, or therapeutic recreation. The program offers the following concentrations, which are designed for transfer to baccalaureate programs within CUNY and to private institutions:
