Dear College Community,

As you know the search for a permanent Chief Diversity Officer is underway.  In the interim, I am pleased to introduce Arlene Peterson to Kingsborough as our interim and part-time Chief Diversity Officer/ 504/ADA Coordinator. Arlene has 16 years of experience working at CUNY in various leadership positions including Chief Diversity Officer, Title IX Coordinator, and 504/ADA Coordinator roles at campuses, such as LaGuardia and Guttman community colleges, and the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. She has extensive experience working on DEI matters and with student leaders in public (CUNY) and private universities including Pace University in the Lubin School of Business and the School of Visual Arts.  Arlene earned her MS in Higher Education Administration and BA in Psychology from SUNY Buffalo State College, and has multiple certificates from Cornell University Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) School.

Arlene will be assuming the responsibilities that Michael Valente had previously occupied. Please join me in welcoming Arlene to our campus in this interim capacity as we search for a permanent placement.

She can be reached by email at Arlene.Peterson@kbcc.cuny.edu or by phone at (718) 368-6793. We are currently working to ensure contact information on both KCC and CUNY websites as well as the Discrimination and Retaliation Reporting Portal is updated accordingly.

Also, please join me in congratulating Dr. Colleen Davy on her appointment as the Dean of Institutional Research, Assessment and Effectiveness.

Many thanks,

Claudia V. Schrader, Ed.D.
President
