Dear College Community,

We are still in the process of identifying an interim CDO.  Please refer matters to Beth Douglas at Beth.Douglas@kbcc.cuny.edu so that investigations can be started as soon as possible.     I am also pleased to inform you that Shaune Bostic will serve as the Substitute Diversity Program Manager and Deputy Title IX/ ADA Coordinator.  Ms. Shaune Wallace-Bostic has over 15 years of experience working in Human Resources and over 5 years working alongside the former CDO at Kingsborough Community College. She plays an essential part in the execution of many of the responsibilities and functions of the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management office at Kingsborough Community College including, but not limited to investigations and reporting Title IX, sexual harassment, race/gender/ethnicity, and harassment cases, and administering employment compliance and affirmative action protocols for search committees.  Please refer Title IX as well as discrimination complaints to her.  Her contact information is as follows:

The City University of New York (“CUNY”) is committed to addressing discrimination and retaliation reports promptly, consistently, and fairly. The following publicly available form allows for the submission of a report of discrimination and/or retaliation, as prohibited by and defined in CUNY’s Policy on Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination (“EO Policy”).

For reports of sexual harassment or sexual violence, including sexual assault, stalking, domestic and intimate violence, please follow the process outlined in CUNY’s Policy on Sexual Misconduct.

As you know, CUNY has established a portal for reporting discrimination and retaliation- accessed here: https://www.cuny.edu/about/administration/offices/hr/discrimination-and-retaliation-report-form/.

This report will be submitted to the Chief Diversity Officer of the CUNY College or school that is implicated. The Chief Diversity Officer will review this report thoroughly and take appropriate action, which may include reaching out to the reporting individual for more information or to explore next steps. A report may be made anonymously. An anonymous report will be taken seriously and reviewed thoroughly; however, the ability to investigate an anonymous report and pursue further action may be limited.

Today is Administrative Professionals Day!  I had the honor of addressing our Awesome Administrative Professionals this morning alongside Gila and Judy who also brought greetings at our breakfast gathering.  Judy, the incredible Shop Steward of DC 37 Local 384 said that Administrative Professionals were the backbone of the college, and I added that they are also the eyes, ears, heart and soul of KCC.  We can’t thank them enough for all that they do for our students and all of us.   Happy Administrative Professionals Day!

Also, as I walked around campus today, I saw many of you wearing Denim in honor of Denim Day, a day of solidarity and advocacy for women and men who are victims of sexual violence.  I hope to see you at the walk later today and at our KCC Denim Day picture as well.

Many thanks,

Claudia V. Schrader, Ed.D.
