AAS in Emergency Medical Services
The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Emergency Medical Services is Brooklyn’s first college-based Paramedic Program. The KCC Paramedic Program is currently under the auspices of the Allied health/Mental Health Department. Paramedic courses start every September. Prior to starting paramedic courses, you must already be a New York State certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). KCC offers EMT courses in fall and spring semesters. The course of study leading to the AAS degree takes at least two years. Additional classes may be necessary to complete the AAS degree.
Not everyone is cut out to be a paramedic. But if you are willing to put the time, effort and sacrifice, our EMS faculty and staff will work to encourage and support you in this exciting career path. Our faculty and staff are academically prepared to teach and are seasoned, experienced paramedics. KCC's Paramedic Program also has a state-of-the-art Simulation Emergency Department Lab including the latest high fidelity manikins for your training benefit.
Explore this exciting opportunity to join the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) field and become the highest level of healthcare provider outside of a hospital. As a paramedic, you will be responsible for patients in critical conditions and YOU can possibly make the difference between life and death.
