Message to the Campus

Message to the Campus

From:  President
Sent: Monday, June 14, 2021

Dear KCC Community,

Today marks the start of Commencement Week!  After the year (more than a year) we have had, I am excited that we get to celebrate the Class of 2021. Part of our Graduate Salute will be livestreamed from the PAC (starting at 11 am).  The link to access the Livestream will be shared with the campus. And prior to that, some faculty, staff and I will be visiting students as part of our Commencement Caravan to celebrate them in person and gift them with KCC Alumni SWAG! Thank you Caravanners!!

Today, we celebrated our Nursing Students at their virtual Pinning Ceremony, and tomorrow we get to spread more cheer at our Lavender Graduation!     We have also given graduates the opportunity to come to campus this week and next week Monday with their families to take pictures.  There are a few more slots available.  You can click on the link for more information and share it with graduates as well. https://www.kbcc.cuny.edu/graduatesalute/index.html

Special thank you in advance to the Commencement Committee, Communications and Marketing, Student Life, and all the faculty and staff who have assisted in the planning and implementation and bringing joy to our students and each other for a job well done in helping our students to achieve their academic goals.

I am anxiously awaiting the final draft of the Reopening Plan which will be submitted to the Central Office in the next 24 hours. The Forward Committee worked tirelessly to develop a plan that would ensure the health and safety of our college community; adhere to required policies and mandates; and enable us to advance our college mission. There are not enough thank yous to express how grateful we all are for your commitment to this undertaking. A special thank you to the Business Standards and Operations Taskforce who have also completed their report and recommendations which are currently under review by Senior Staff.   From where I stand, this work represents our efforts to not only  our transition back to campus, but to move Forward into our future stronger and toward a better KCC.  I will continue to keep everyone abreast of developments as they occur over the summer.
