KCC Academy for Excellence in Teaching & Learning
The Kingsborough Academy for Excellence in Teaching & Learning supports faculty and staff through professional development opportunities that promote excellence in teaching, learning, scholarship, and leadership. The KCC Academy fosters collaboration, innovation, and the exchange of effective pedagogical practices while supporting the integration of instructional technologies that enhance student engagement, success, and equity. Through workshops, consultations, and learning communities, the KCC Academy provides resources and training on emerging topics in higher education, including innovative pedagogy, artificial intelligence, scholarly activity, student-centered teaching, and accessibility.

Ryan McKinney, Professor of Theatre Arts and Director of KCC Academy
Cia Kessler, Instructional Designer and Faculty Development Manager
Cia Kessler has been an instructional/curriculum designer for over 30 years, working in higher education as well as corporate contexts. She joined Kingsborough as an instructional designer and faculty development manager in spring of 2023. Cia holds an M.Phil in English Literature from the CUNY Graduate Center.
Evan Caccioppoli, KCC Academy Administrative Coordinator
Evan Caccioppoli has been a member of the KCC Academy team since Fall 2023. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor of Theatre, Film, and Speech in the Department of Communications and Performing Arts at Kingsborough Community College.
In addition to his administrative duties, Evan has led a Faculty Inquiry Group (FIG) focused on navigating higher education as an adjunct faculty member. Evan holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from the University of Illinois Chicago, an MA in Educational Theatre from New York University, and an MFA in Directing from The Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University
Maria Tomarchio, KCC Academy Administrative Assistant
Maria Tomarchio has served as an Administrative Assistant at Kingsborough Community College since 2010. In 2020, she joined KCC Academy, where she provides administrative and operational support to faculty.
