High-Impact Practices at Kingsborough
According to Kuh and Kinzie (2018) the term " High-Impact ," when describing an educational practice, refers to “ the unusually positive benefits that accrue to students who participate in such an educational practice, including enhanced engagement in a variety of educationally purposeful tasks; gains in deep, integrative learning; salutary effects for students from historically underserved populations (that is, students get a boost in their performance); and higher persistence and graduation rates. ”
A number of High-Impact Practices (HIPs) are currently offered at Kingsborough, and faculty are encouraged to explore ways in which these practices might be incorporated into their own teaching in order to promote equity.
