Economic and Workforce Development

Workforce Development

The goal of KCC’s Workforce Development FIG, facilitated by Christine Zagari, Alissa Levine, and Jessie Cinelli of the Center for Economic and Workforce Development (CEWD), is to spark conversation about the relevance of workforce topics in higher education. Through this FIG, we invite faculty and staff across academic disciplines to talk about using labor market information (LMI) to develop curricula, college and career pathways, noncredit-to-credit alignment, and grant-funded opportunities.

Since 2007, CEWD has worked with faculty from Tourism & Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Community Health, Art, and others. In recent years, two of CEWD’s job training programs have resulted in academic program concentrations—Baking & Pastry in Culinary Arts and User Experience in Art—and CEWD developed GED/TASC and job training programs that serve as college feeders for populations that might otherwise have not considered higher education.

For more information or to join, please contact Christine at (christine.zagari@kbcc.cuny.edu or 718-368-5778) and please visit our page on the CUNY Academic Commons. We look forward to meeting you!
