Commencement F.A.Q.'s

I have finished all my classes prior to June 2018 (August 2017, January 2018)

 

    Great!  If you have applied for your degree on CUNYFirst, you should have received information in the mail about the ceremony. All items were mailed to the address you have on file in CUNYFirst.

I will be finished with all my classes this June

    You ARE eligible to walk in the June 2018 Commencement, which will be held on June 14, 2018. 

    You must log-in to CUNYFirst and "Apply for your Degree" between March 19- April18, 2018.

After you apply, you will receive all Commencement related information, by mail to the address you have on file with CUNYFirst.

    If it is after April18, 2018, you have missed the deadline to apply for a June 2018 degree on CUNYFirst.   

o    If you still wish to participate in the June 2018 Commencement ceremony, you will need to file a "Permission to March in June Commencement" form and submit it to A-216 along with a copy of your degree audit. Please note: your name will not appear in the program, and you will still need to file for graduation on CUNYFirst, between June 20 and July 5, 2018. Please note your degree will indicate a graduation date of August 2018. 

o     If you do not wish to participate in the June 2018 Commencement, you will still need to apply for your degree in order to receive one.  You will need to apply on CUNYFirst to complete this process from June 20, 2018-July 5, 2018. Please note: If you are eligible, your degree will indicate a graduation date of August 2018.

 

I will be taking Summer 2018 classes, but still want to walk in the June ceremony

• You MAY be eligible to walk in the June 2018 commencement.
• You will need to complete a "Permission to March in June Commencement" form and submit it to
  
  A-216 along with a copy of your degree audit no later than May 11, 2018.

•  You must have a GPA of at least 2.0 and taking no more than 2 classes during the summer         module.
• You will still need to apply for an August degree to graduate.  Please log-in to your CUNYFirst account and "Apply for your Degree" between June 20, 2018 and July 5, 2018 to complete this process.
• You will be notified after May 21, 2018 if you are eligible to march in the June ceremony.  Please remember, participation in the Commencement ceremony does not signify graduation.

I will still be taking classes in the fall of 2018

    You are NOT permitted to walk in the June 2018 Commencement. 
      
 
Do I need tickets to the commencement ceremony?

• There are no tickets.  If you are eligible to participate in the ceremony, you will receive an invitation to the ceremony.  This invitation will serve as your ticket.  Since space is limited, we ask that you limit your guests to 4.
