Vaccine Verification Information

Are you campus ready? All CUNY students attending in-person and hybrid classes, will be required to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Students can submit evidence of vaccination through the CUNYfirst portal, and the deadline to upload proof of vaccination is Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
Visit CUNY’s FAQs webpage for real-time student vaccination updates.

Vaccination Mandate for Student Athletes
As recently announced by the Chancellor, EUA-authorized COVID-19 vaccines are now required for all student athletes prior to being permitted to participate in any CUNY athletic activity, and regardless of FDA approval. Student athletes may receive a CUNY-approved exemption for medical or religious reasons but must then follow our COVID-19 testing protocols and or other related requirements.

You can upload your proof of vaccination by clicking the Vaccine Verification link in CUNYfirst.

CUNY’s Getting Back to Working in Person and Learning on Campus FAQs offer the University community, especially faculty and staff, the most current guidance on masking, physical distancing, testing protocols, facilities preparation, and more.

Central Office updates the CUNY COVID-19 SafetyTracker with the latest safety metrics from all CUNY campuses every Tuesday. That information is readily available on the CUNY site:

Temporary Mask Mandate

Due to the current rate of the coronavirus transmission, our temporary mask mandate continues. This mandate is subject to modification based on changing vaccination statistics and coronavirus transmission rates. For the time being, everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must:

  • Wear a face mask inside all CUNY campuses and office buildings. This includes while working in a non-enclosed space such as a cubicle or other open seating, regardless of physical distance from others.
  • Wear a mask outdoors on campus when unable to maintain physical distance from others.

The only exceptions to wearing a mask inside are:
  • If a fully vaccinated person is alone in an enclosed space such as an office, conference room, or dorm room.
  • In a classroom, if a vaccinated professor is teaching a class and is able to keep social distance from everyone else in the class, he or she may choose not to wear a mask.
  • Briefly while eating or drinking, provided social distancing is maintained.

Random COVID-19 Testing Program

Wednesday, November 17 2021

Dear CUNY Community,

As part of the University’s multi-pronged strategy to monitor and mitigate the spread of COVID-19, CUNY is launching a random testing program for vaccinated employees and students accessing CUNY facilities.

Starting this week, a number of randomly selected, vaccinated individuals across the University will be contacted each week to be tested for COVID-19. The random testing program complements CUNY’s mandatory weekly testing for employees who have not disclosed their vaccination status and students who obtained a vaccination exemption.

If you are selected in any given week, you will receive an email from with instructions to complete your registration and will have to test at a CUNY test site within 7 days (no appointment necessary). Your test result will be available within 48 hours and you will maintain your Access Pass to CUNY facilities while the results are pending. If your test result comes back positive, your Access Pass will be removed and you will be contacted by a Coronavirus Task Force Liaison for guidance.

If you do not show up to be tested within the required 7-day period, you will be contacted by a campus or program representative on next steps. Being tested when you are notified is not optional and is necessary in order to obtain campus-wide results each week and thus help keep everyone safe.

For additional information about the program, visit this FAQ
or If you still have questions, students should contact their campus Local Vaccine Authority (LVA),(  and employees their HR office (

Thank you in advance for doing your part to continue keeping the CUNY Community safe.
