Vaccine Announcements

Vaccination Deadlines & Instructions

CUNY employees and students are subject to random COVID-19 testing through Cleared4 SafeCircle. Failure to respond to random testing requests will void your Cleared4 access pass and you will not be allowed on campus.

  • If you receive an email from notifying you that you have been selected for random COVID-19 testing, you must comply within the timeframe stated in the email.  You may test only at any one of the CUNY COVID-19 testing sites. Sites and times can be found on Find a CUNY COVID Testing Site.

  • The email will be sent to the address that you selected as “preferred” in your CUNYFirst account, so it is important to be diligent about checking all your emails regularly.

  • If you do not report for the COVID-19 testing at a CUNY testing site location within the timeframe specified, your access pass to campus will be paused and you will not be able to report to classes or offices until a negative test result is given.

  • Upload Your Proof of Vaccination TODAY!
Vaccines will continue to be required for all students taking in-person and hybrid courses. Any enrolled student who has not uploaded proof of vaccination documents to CUNYfirst  will be de-registered from in-person and hybrid classes for non-compliance with the vaccination mandate. If they subsequently upload proof, they may register for courses up to the end of the add/drop period on Mar.8.  Please read the Chancellor's announcement.

  • Students who do not comply with CUNY's vaccine policy may be withdrawn from in-person and hybrid courses. No refunds will be issued and your financial aid will be impacted. Visit the CUNY Website to get more information about vaccination sites and CUNY's vaccination policy.

  • Remote-Only Students Must be Vaccinated to Be on Campus. I am amending the policy that permitted unvaccinated students to visit campuses if they showed proof of a negative COVID test. Effective October 21, All students taking remote-only classes who wish to visit a campus at any point for any reason must be fully vaccinated and have their vaccination documents approved in CUNYfirst — unless they have been granted a religious exception or a medical exemption. The only other exception to this change is that I have asked campus leaders to accommodate students who need to access emergency services on campus, such as food pantries and mental health services. As always, we might modify this policy as necessitated by changing public health conditions. More information about CUNY’s vaccination mandate can be found in this FAQ and for help uploading, please click here

  • Please note we will get messaging from the Chancellor/President about the new requirements for COVID for Spring regarding boosters.

Vaccination Requirements for Spring 2023

CUNY students attending in-person and hybrid classes for the Spring 2023 semester are required to be vaccinated and have their vaccination documentation uploaded and approved in CUNYfirst

There are four things you must do to attend classes for the Spring 2023 semester
Students are required to upload proof of vaccination status into CUNYfirst.

Students taking in-person or hybrid courses must be fully vaccinated when classes begin, meaning unvaccinated students will be withdrawn before classes begin if they do not meet the below guidelines and deadlines:

Students taking in-person or hybrid classes who fail to upload their proof of vaccination will be subject to potential academic withdrawal that could also impact their financial aid and make them ineligible for refunds for the courses.

Students attending in-person classes need to be fully vaccinated and have their vaccination documentation uploaded and approved, or they have to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within the past seven days at a CUNY testing site.

Requests for an exception or medical exemption from getting vaccinated can be made and CUNY will provide more guidance on this process soon. Students can visit campus for other reasons without being fully vaccinated, but must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 7 days prior to the visit.
