Pride Month

Pride Month

MESSAGE FROM THE KCC PRIDE COMMITTEE

Kingsborough honors the histories, identities, and voices of our LGBTQIA+ community. This Pride Month, we reflect on the history of the Stonewall Riots and the Black and Latinx trans women who sparked the Gay Liberation Movement for LGBTQIA+ rights. We recognize New York City’s history in the revolution to fight for equality, equity, inclusion, and human rights. We remember the leaders and community members who were not afraid to live their truths openly and those that were forced to be silent. We celebrate the voices of our community as their words encourage the next generation. We continue to work in solidarity on supporting and uplifting our LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff. We embody the words of the late Black lesbian poet and CUNY alum Audre Lorde, “without community, there is no liberation.” Kingsborough is proud to stand with our community during Pride and forward.
