CUNY Appoints Suri Duitch as Eighth President of Kingsborough Community College
The City University of New York has named Dr. Suri Duitch as president of Kingsborough Community College, a role she has held on an interim
basis since January 2024. A two-time CUNY alumna and longtime leader in higher education,
Duitch has guided the college through key milestones, including recognition as a 2024
Aspen Prize semifinalist and a successful accreditation visit. Her appointment is
pending CUNY Board of Trustees approval.
“President Duitch is a talented and innovative educator with a deep record of service
to this University and a demonstrated commitment to CUNY’s mission of advancing academic
opportunities and career outcomes for students of all backgrounds,” said CUNY Chancellor
Félix V. Matos Rodríguez. “Suri’s achievements at Kingsborough over the past 15 months
have reaffirmed the college’s commitment to keep building on the educational excellence
it delivers to its students and confirmed that she is the ideal person to lead Kingsborough
into the future.”
She holds a B.A. from Columbia University, an MSW from the Hunter College School of
Social Work, and a Ph.D. in Urban Education from the CUNY Graduate Center.
Duitch previously served in senior roles at Tulane University and CUNY, including
helping found CUNY’s School of Professional Studies, the University’s premier school
for adult learners. She is leading the development of Kingsborough’s next strategic
plan and remains focused on student success, campus engagement, and academic excellence.
