Gerald.Sachs

Biography

He has been interested in physical culture for his entire adult life with special interests in environmental health, diet, and exercise. As a  teacher he worked with disabled students in hospitals and homes and with patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation at the Einstein Institute, Montefiore Medical Center.

He has always enjoyed a connection to the sea and sailing. Summers, he teaches sailing for the Park Service, at Gateway National Park.

Research Interests

I am interested in the health of Jamaica Bay. Once it provided food - oysters, and many species of fish most of which are now gone. This was caused by people misusing this bay. It is important to learn which practices are most damaging and what can be done to restore these waters.
