Biography

Diane McDevitt is an Assistant Professor at CUNY Kingsborough Community College. Professor McDevitt’s interests center around nursing education in the medical surgical area with a keen interest in the management of chronic illness. Professor McDevitt has extensive experience in medical-surgical, emergency, case management, and administrative nursing. Professor McDevitt currently works as an Assistant Director of Nursing at an acute care facility where she provides leadership and supervision on a per-diem basis.

Nursing is her passion, practicing and teaching it to bring new RNs into the profession and to empower nursing students to be competent and caring practitioners. She has mentored a graduate nursing student and looks forward to sharing her knowledge and expertise with future graduate students. Professor McDevitt has completed the WAC seminar and is a member of the Kingsborough Civic Engagement faculty interest group. Professor McDevitt has previously taught Nursing (clinical, lab and theory) at St. Paul’s School of Nursing (formerly St. Vincent’s Medical Center School of Nursing) and the College of Staten Island.
