SPRING 2026 SBS Healthcare Accelerator Training Program

*NO COST Healthcare Training Programs

This initiative is sponsored by the NYC Department of Small Business Services. Eligible participants can benefit from *no-cost tuition (though other expenses may still apply) and will receive assistance with job placement. Please note that this training opportunity is intended for individuals who earn less than $62,000 per year, are unemployed, and/or receive public assistance.

*This low-cost program ONLY covers TUITION for those who qualify. Students must pay for textbooks, exam fees, lab coats, and other materials.

Pharmacy Technician Intensive (Online)
Central Sterile Technician (Online)
Electronic Health Records (Online)
Phlebotomy Technician + Basic Life Support (Hybrid)
Patient Care Technician + Basic Life Support (Hybrid)
Direct Support Professional (Online) Community Healthcare Worker (Online)
EKG/ECG Technician (Hybrid)
Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (Online)

Participants must:
  • Be a NYC resident
  • Be 18+ years old
  • Be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Be Selective Service compliant (if applicable)
  • Have a high school diploma or HSE
  • Basic computer skills are required to participate.
  • Have an annual income under $62,000 (if employed)
  • Provide documentation for all eligibility criteria

Pharmacy Technician Training

In partnership with the 1199 Training and Employment Fund, Kingsborough Community College is offering a customized Certified Pharmacy Technician Program, preparing students for the National Healthcareer Association ExCPT certification exam. This 105-hour program meets ONLINE and is led with live instruction. The program is designed to include Pharmacy Technician curriculum, tutoring and review time, and dedicated class sessions for NHA ExCPT Exam preparation. Students that successfully complete the course will have their NHA ExCPT exam scheduled and fee covered. Textbook(s) provided. Classes start soon!

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
  • Must be age 18 or older.
  • Must live or work in New York State.
  • Must have HS Diploma or GED
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must commit to 3 years of service working for a healthcare provider in NYS, assigned by 1199.

KCC's No-Cost Contextualized ESL for Healthcare

This HHA and DSP program provides students with one Healthcare training course and one Contextualized ESL course within the same semester.

In addition to the technical healthcare training, students in this program will also take an ESL for Healthcare course, which provides contextualized ESL lessons in grammar, vocabulary, writing, reading, listening and speaking, utilizing content from the HHA and DSP industries. This class also includes resume, cover letter, and interview support as well as employer visits and 1-to-1 advisement with our Career Counselor.
