Student Evaluations of Teaching

Student Evaluations of Teaching

Each semester, CUNY students are asked to complete an evaluation of their courses. Student Evaluations of Teaching (SET) are a good opportunity for students to have their voice heard by giving feedback to their professors and to Kingsborough Community College about their experience with the classes and professors they are taking. This valuable feedback will help KCC improve the quality of our courses and instruction.

For the Spring 2023 semester, Student Evaluations of Teaching (SET) will take place from May 15 – June 16, 2023.

The evaluations will be conducted  through SmartEvals, an online course evaluation system,  and each survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Responses are:

  • Completely anonymous. Professors will only be able to see the responses and the number of students who responded in each of their courses. The SmartEvals system ensures that student names or any identifying information about students will never be visible to professors.
  • Released to professors only after final grades have been submitted.

Accessing Student Evaluations of Teaching and the SmartEvals System

Student Evaluations of Teaching are easily accessible via mobile, tablet, or computer. You can get to SmartEvals through the SET icon in the KCC mobile app, through links posted on the KCC website, and by going to the Tools Page in your Blackboard courses. During the evaluation period, students and faculty are regularly sent emails with information about how to complete the evaluations and login. Some professors may even set aside class time for students to complete their evaluations.
