Presidential Search Pre-Search Survey open until May 31

Updates and Announcements

May 8, 2024

Good afternoon, colleagues,

I am writing to update you on the Kingsborough Presidential Search and ask for your help. On May 6th and 7th, faculty, administrators,  staff, students, foundation board members, community/industry partners, and alumni participated in meetings with the executive search firm and several team members from CUNY. The meeting represented an opportunity for members of our college community to share insight on the needs and qualities the next president should demonstrate, the challenges facing the campus, strengths and weaknesses, and other attributes we may want to highlight to a new president. This information will help the search firm and committee shape the job description, identify strong candidates, and hire the college’s next leader.
When you have a moment, please complete the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KCC-President . It allows you to give input and will be available until May 31st. We will continue to provide updates during the next phase of the process.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you.
Dr. Simone Rodriguez
Vice President, Workforce Development and Continuing Education
Presidential Search Liaison

The forum is Wednesday, March 27 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Please RSVP HERE and pre-submit your questions by noon on Monday, March 25. Participants will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis, and will receive the link to watch the live forum after the RSVP deadline.

Dear Kingsborough Community,

I write to follow up on my letter from January 5. We will soon launch a national search for the next permanent president of Kingsborough Community College. CUNY has partnered with the firm Academic Search to help coordinate this process.

As I shared in my letter, the search committee will be established in accordance with the CUNY Presidential Search Guidelines. We have asked the Kingsborough governance body to kindly elect three faculty members to serve on the search committee as soon as possible.

As a first step, I want to invite you to a virtual open forum where I will answer questions you may have regarding the search process.

The Kingsborough community will have numerous opportunities to participate in the process beyond the forum. We invite members of the community to complete this important survey, which will be open until May 31 and managed by Academic Search.

Furthermore, once the chair of the search committee has been appointed, that Trustee, along with representatives from Academic Search and staff members from the executive search office, will hold a series of meetings with key stakeholders including representatives of the Kingsborough faculty, students, administrators, department chairs, governance leaders and friends of the college, which include alumni and foundation board members.

Kindly note that Dr. Simone Rodriguez, vice president for workforce development, continuing education and strategic partnerships at Kingsborough Community College, has agreed to serve as the campus-based search liaison and will be working closely with my team throughout this process.

I’m very much looking forward to addressing your questions. Together, we will write the next exciting chapter for Kingsborough Community College.

Sincerely,

Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, Ph.D.Chancellor
