Beata Monsanto

Lecturer | Surgical Technology

Beata Monsanto, BSN, RN, CST, is our new full-time lecturer of surgical technology in the Department of Allied Health, Mental Health and Human Services. Originally from Hungary, she immigrated to the United States 23 years ago to support her family back home. Beata's story is one of resilience and determination, balancing family responsibilities and academic pursuits. After settling in New York, marrying and becoming a mother, she and her husband decided to enroll at Kingsborough to begin their educational journeys. They would alternate between day and evening classes to ensure one parent was home with their child.

Graduating from KCC’s surgical technology program in 2017, she considers the knowledge and skills she gained during her time here to be the foundation of her successful career. While at KCC, she received the prestigious Rose Battle Scholarship Award, recognizing her exceptional academic performance, positive attitude, and contributions to her program and peers. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Long Island University, Brooklyn, and is planning to pursue a master's in education.

Beata spent a year working at the NYU Surgery Center before transferring to the Trauma Center at NYU Langone–Brooklyn. There, she honed her skills in the operating room for six years, contributing to a wide range of services including general, robotic orthopedic, genital urinary, GYN, plastic and vascular cases.

In addition to her clinical experience, Beata is a dedicated researcher with a focus on improving healthcare outcomes. Her research on surface perturbation training and its impact on reducing falls among high-risk seniors underscores her commitment to evidence-based practices and elevating nursing care.

She is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Her dedication to high-quality surgical care has been a driving force throughout her career. Now, as a lecturer in surgical technology and clinical instruction, she is passionate about imparting her expertise to the next generation of surgical technologists. “Teaching is not just a profession for me; it's a passion that I indulge in daily,” she shared. “I find immense joy in guiding and assisting my students, and providing them with the tools they need to excel. My approach is rooted in motivation and the belief that regardless of one's origins, success is always within reach.”

In her free time, Beata enjoys reading and cherishes quality moments with her family.
