Hope Parisi

Professor

English

Biography

Hope Parisi is Full Professor of English and has taught at Kingsborough since 1994. Past academic roles include Academic Director of the Reading and Writing Center/ CAWS (1997-2015) and Faculty Mentor for the English Department (2018-2025). She served as the Chair of the English 90’s Committee in the mid to late 90s as the new ESL/ENG 90’s developmental English courses were established. She recently moved from serving as co-editor of The Journal of Basic Writing (2008 -2024) to a consulting editor role (2024-present).

Prof. Parisi is a positive, spirited teacher of college writing, valuing writing’s connections to the vast array of literacies students are acquiring today in new and vibrant social contexts. Her teaching and research interests include Universal Design for Learning, the literature of welcome and belonging, and the many currents of basic writing.
