Subject: College protocols

Dear College Community,

The health and safety of every member of our College community is important to us. Please be advised of the following College protocols for the coming semester.

IT BEGINS WITH YOU

It is important that you do not come to campus and do not test at any CUNY sites if any of the following applies to you:

o   Currently experiencing or recently experienced (in the last 48 hours) any new or worsening COVID-19 symptoms.

o   Are unvaccinated and have recently (in the last 10 days) been in close contact (within 6 feet for at least 10 minutes over a 24-hour period) with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 or is suspected to have COVID-19 based on symptoms.

o   Tested positive through a diagnostic test for COVID-19 in the past 10 days.

o   Recently traveled domestically or internationally and are unvaccinated.  All individuals should follow the CDC domestic travel recommendations and international travel recommendations before reporting to work or campus and notify their manager in advance of the travel dates and should quarantine be required.

If any of the aforementioned applies to you and you test positive, there will be more potential exposure to members of our community.  In the event that the aforementioned applies, go to a non-CUNY sites to test.  The following are helpful resources COVID Express sites  or COVID-19 Test Site Finder

POSITIVE TESTS

If you do not feel well or have been in contact with someone who tested positive, let your supervisor know and get tested at a non-CUNY site.   If you test positive, contact Karen St. Hilaire (karen.sthilaire@kbcc.cuny.edu) to report positive results tests and to provide information so that Contact Tracing can commence.  Karen will ensure that you have the correct information/instructions regarding isolation and quarantine.

CONTACT TRACING

Information will be collected from you regarding your symptoms, the areas of the College you visited, and the names of everyone you have been in contact with immediately prior to exhibiting symptoms. As a precautionary measure, those individuals will be notified.   The University is in contact with the DOH and are following protocols with regards to thresholds of risk.

SANITIZATION

To ensure the stop of the potential additional spread of the virus, offices/areas will be sanitized and depending on the circumstances, entire areas might be closed temporarily for cleaning.

NOTIFICATION TO CAMPUS

Notification of positive cases will be sent to the college community once per week (this is a change from daily reporting that we did previously).  To protect the privacy of members of our community, names will not be shared.  We also ask that you do not share this information.

RETURNING TO CAMPUS

If you tested positive, upon your return to campus we will only accept PCR tests from a non-CUNY test site in order to clear you to come back to campus. Remember that there are new rapid PCR tests, as such because they are PCR tests, they are acceptable.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
