CompTIA A+ Computer Technician Program
This program is geared toward individuals interested in pursuing a career in information technology. Courses will be held online and cover the fundamentals of PC hardware, software, and peripherals. Topics will include hardware and software troubleshooting, operating systems, operational procedures, security, virtualization, and cloud computing. The program will also prepare students for the CompTIA A+ certification exam. Interest in Information Technology or prior experience in the industry is strongly recommended.
CompTIA Network+ Computer Technician Program
This program is geared towards individuals interested in a career in information technology and covers the core skills necessary to support networks in any environment. Courses will be held online and cover networking concepts, network implementation, operations, security, and troubleshooting. The program will also prepare students for the CompTIA Network+ certification exam. Students must have completed CompTIA A+ training or have experience in the industry to qualify for this program.

CUNY Fatherhood (CFA) TASC/HSE Preparation & College/Career Preparation
TASC/HSE Prep: 16-week High School Equivalency
College/Career Prep: 10-week college and career prep program
Both the TASC Prep (16-weeks) and College/Career Prep (10-week) programs are free for residents of New York City, specifically fathers, ages 18 to 30. Both programs offer academic support, mentorship, counseling, and workshops on communication, conflict resolution, vocational exploration, and parenting skills. CFA promotes responsible parenting, college readiness, and work among unemployed and underemployed fathers.
Eligibility: Must be a current or expecting biological father, New York City resident, and 18-30
years old.

Maritime Technology Apprenticeship Program
Kingsborough’s Maritime Technology Apprenticeship Program (MTAP) is free for students interested in becoming marine mechanics. You will get hands-on experience working alongside a skilled mentor as a paid employee.
In four years, you will earn an associate in applied science degree (A.A.S) in maritime technology and the title of journeyman from the NYS Department of Labor. MTAP consists of coursework and hands-on maritime training in diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, welding, vessel systems, marina operations, basic boat handling, and more.
The Pre-Apprentice program is geared toward students interested in the maritime industry who want to explore their options further. Students enrolled in the pre-apprentice MTAP program receive remedial education assistance, counseling, and up to 8 college credits should they enroll in the Maritime Technology A.A.S degree program.
Eligibility: Must be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, be legally able to work in the United States, and have a clean driver’s license.
Benefits: Job placement students can earn an Applied Science Degree (A.A.S) in Maritime Technology and the title of Journeyman from the New York State Department of Labor.

Pre-Apprentice Marine Careers Training
This training, in partnership with the Seafarers International Union (SIU), starts with a seminar on maritime pathways. It includes a stipend to cover the cost of travel to Piney Point, Maryland. Once accepted into the SIU apprenticeship program, classes, meals, and lodging are free. Graduates are guaranteed a first job aboard one of the SIU’s contracted vessels.
This training and credentialing pathways program is ideal for those seeking a career in maritime that can eventually lead to jobs within Offshore Wind.
Eligibility: TABE test all students for 9th grade reading level. Copy of a valid passport. 18+ or older. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Must be able to pass drug test, including cannabis (THC or CBD).
Benefits: Guaranteed SIU job placement upon completion of the SIU Apprentice program. Assistance with the SIU Apprentice Application processes. Complete skills and training are needed for a successful and prosperous career in the maritime field. Fees covered include Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC), Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC), and United States Coast Guard (USCG) physical, drug test, yellow fever, and MSC shot. A stipend will cover the cost of travel to Piney Point, MD, uniform, and more!

Certified Welding Training
The non-credit certified welding program will provide students with industry-standard combinations of welding and safety instruction needed for immediate employment and advancement along their career path. These skills can help students become employed in various fields, including construction, automotive technology and maintenance, off-shore wind, transportation, waste management, utilities, manufacturing, and many other industries. It includes the American Welding Society certification and exam.
Benefits: This training will equip students with the knowledge and skills to pass the American Welding Society (A.W.S.) Certified Welder Exam and becoming an A.W.S. Certified Welder provide students with the experience and qualifications needed to begin a successful career in welding.

Deckhand Training
This training program will prepare participants for an entry-level deckhand position. Participants will learn to launch, dock, repair, and maintain ships and be trained in maritime safety procedures. The program includes CPR/Basic First Aid American Red Cross training, NYC Department of Health Food Handlers Test Prep and Exam, Deckhand Technical Training, and Basic shipboard firefighting for professional mariners.
Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 years old and over and must be able to provide identification, be legally eligible to work in the US, and must be able to provide proof. HS diploma/GED, Must be able to pass a drug test.

Bridges to Offshore Wind
The Bridges to Offshore Wind program is an interactive instructional seminar for people interested in learning about the region’s Offshore Wind industry.
Bridges to Offshore Wind focuses on maritime, electrical, construction and manufacturing, assembly, and supply chain subsectors. This is an introductory workshop to get people interested in and excited about careers in offshore wind. What sets this apart from other bridge programs is that it informs people about the technical training within the CUNY system AND provides the supportive services needed for individuals to succeed.
The program allows participants to explore offshore wind career titles and pathways and the education and training requirements to enter offshore wind careers. Students will review labor market information and employment projections and assess their existing skillsets to evaluate how they align with careers in offshore wind. Students will hear about existing job training, certification, and degree programs available at the 4 CUNY schools and how these programs might help direct their career and educational trajectory.

From Cannabis to Cuisine
This partnership course, offered through CUNY and the American Culinary Federation (ACF), is designed for those who want to cook with cannabis safely in a commercial kitchen. This course will provide students with the skills, knowledge, and competencies required for safely handling culinary cannabis and edibles, culminating in an exam to earn an ACF/CUNY Certificate in Culinary Cannabis and Edibles. Students will also hear from guest speakers and attend workshops on cannabis equity and advocacy, the history of cannabis, networking in the cannabis industry, and job readiness.
Eligibility: Participants must be 21+, interested in pursuing a career in culinary cannabis, and able to demonstrate 8th-grade level Math and English-language capabilities, either by providing a high-school diploma or equivalency or by taking assessment exams.
All students are expected to attend class via Zoom and to have stable, reliable internet and computer access (a cell phone will not allow participants to view and partake in all class materials).

KCC ESL Contextualized Occupational Training Program
KCC is offering this one-of-a-kind ESL contextualized Home Health Aide training and the Construction Trades training program for free! These trainings are specifically for those with work authorization papers who want to pursue a healthcare career.
The training provides students with our Certified Home Health Aid (HHA) course or our Construction Trades training in OSHA and general construction modules in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and more. Each training also includes additional linguistic support to pursue this profession, reinforce the field's vocabulary, and develop the grammar, conversation, and cultural skills needed to work in an English-speaking environment. All tuition, fees, supplies, and support are included!

Must have proof of work authorization in the United States
Or Proof of Submission of Authorization Application
To be accepted into the program, students must take an oral and written proficiency
exam and pass at a minimum level of 4 or 5.
For the HHA program, students must also be willing to complete a medical clearance
and submit medical forms.
