Maternal Health and DONA Doula Training Program
Description
This comprehensive course provides the foundation to understand the field of maternal health. Students will become trained as birth doulas and learn to apply basic skills and competencies in various community settings. Students learn about the history of maternal health in the US and how maternal health plays a role in marginalized communities, recognize how implicit bias impacts maternal health, and learn to address persistent and emerging issues surrounding maternal health. Students learn basic clinical knowledge of preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum and discuss the impact community health workers play in decreasing maternal morbidity and mortality. 100% attendance is required for successful completion of the course.
