Credentialed Addiction Studies Programs:
A.S. Degree in Addiction StudiesAddiction Studies Certificate

Have you considered a career as a Addiction Studies Counselor?

Do you want to earn college credit while completing approved education classes that will help you to qualify for the Certification in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling Exam?

Our program offers a total of seven core courses, which cover the areas of expertise required by the New York State-Office of Addiction Services & Supports (OASAS). Students who successfully complete this core are eligible to participate in two supervised internships in an OASAS-licensed field setting.

* This program provides preparation for the CASAC- Trainee certificate from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.

Enrollment in the Substance Abuse Counseling program is separate from the Mental Health and Human Services Program. This program is designed specifically to prepare students for a career in substance abuse counseling; successful completion of the entire course of study satisfies the educational requirements for the Certification in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling (CASAC Trainee) from the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. The courses also satisfy the course-specific requirements for the A.S. degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling (Degree Requirements).
