Teaching Perspectives

Janine Graziano-King
Daniel Pratt has identified five perspectives on teaching in adult and higher education. Pratt believes that “presenting each of them not as a ‘method’ of teaching, but rather as a unique constellation of actions, intentions, and beliefs, should provoke critical reflection on issues of evaluation and quality, while also respecting diversity, within adult and higher education” (Pratt, 1998). In this faculty interest group, facilitated by Janine Graziano-King (English), faculty will explore these perspectives through readings and discussion, identify their own perspective through an online survey developed by Pratt and his associates, and look for ways to align their perspective with their practice.
