The Kingsborough Community College Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) established in 1982, exists solely to benefit Kingsborough Community College.  Funds are used to provide student scholarships, support faculty development and scholarship, enrich the student learning experience, and build the college's endowment for future generations.  

The KCC Foundation offers a variety of scholarships year-round for eligible students in need of direct financial assistance. Average scholarships are $250 and may be awarded only once per semester.  

Scholarship Application:

  1. Applying for a scholarship does not mean you will automatically be awarded a scholarship but your application will be reviewed for consideration by the scholarship committee.

  5. Scholarships will be awarded according to the availability of scholarship funds and the Donor’s guidelines

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a matriculated Kingsborough Community College student
  • Registered for the current semester
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Must submit a typed 500 word personal statement that describes: why you chose your current major and what career you plan on pursuing. Any financial obstacles you are facing. If awarded, how do you plan on using the funds received? Lastly, please provide a “plan of action” for you intend to cover these expenses moving forward. 
List of Scholarships- students only need to fill out one application:  
Amy Bergenfeld Scholarship
  • GPA 3.0 or above
  • Completed a minimum of 24 credits
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Submits an essay that:
    • States your career aspirations
    • How KCC is helping you to achieve these aspirations
    • How receiving this scholarship will help you continue to excel academically
  • Must meet CUNY regulations and guidelines as they pertain to receiving financial support 
Amy and James Marsh Scholarship
  • GPA 3.0 or above
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Must meet CUNY regulations and guidelines as they pertain to receiving financial support
David Lewis Plimpton Scholarship
  • GPA 2.5 or above
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Must be majoring in a “helping” profession; included in this agreement: Mental Health, CASAC, Education. In light of Dr. Plimpton’s fondness for fishing and boating, a Maritime Technology major is eligible. Liberal Arts majors may also be considered
  • Submit a compelling essay on his/her career goals and how he/she hopes to make a difference in his/her community
  • Must meet CUNY regulations and guidelines as they pertain to receiving financial support
KCC Foundation Scholarship (“FSA”)
  • GPA 2.0 or above
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Must meet CUNY regulations and guidelines as they pertain to receiving financial support 
Rhoda Polly Alumni Emergency Scholarship
  • GPA 3.0 or above
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Must meet CUNY regulations and guidelines as they pertain to receiving financial support 
Senior Administrator’s Fund (“SAM”)
  • GPA 2.0 or above
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Must meet CUNY regulations and guidelines as they pertain to receiving financial support
Rudin Book Voucher Scholarship
  • A matriculated Kingsborough Community College student
  • Registered for the current semester
  • Submit a 500 word essay
