Faculty Interest Groups
The New College Classroom
Facilitator: Delia Hernandez
A faculty learning community designed to share and collaboratively explore active, effective and equity-minded teaching practices.
How do we make the transition from the hierarchical, inequitable, output-driven academy we inherited from the nineteenth century to a higher education that empowers all students to be their own best selves, modeling a more democratic, flourishing, and just society? How do we make this transition in our own classrooms? In this faculty interest group, We will gather to explore the ideas presented by Cathy Davidson and Christina Katopodis in their recent publication, The New College Classroom. During the Spring 2023 semester, we will focus on the first four chapters as a foundational inspiration for launching a process of reflection and change. Join us to think and grow in a safe space for examination and collaboration.
