President’s Weekly Messages to Students

Tik Tok, Tick Tock

Monday, August  29, 2022

GRWM.  If you know that’s this is the  acronym for (Get Ready With Me), it means that you probably scrolled through Tik Tok and have seen the popular trend. In GRWM, people take short videos of themselves putting their outfits together (clothes, shoes, jewelry, accessories, make-up, hair, and even perfume/cologne) as they get ready to go out.  And by out-- I mean parties, dinner, hanging with friends, and work- you name it. They are thorough in their preparations and their final looks are always pretty amazing.

You should know that your professors spend a lot of time prior to the beginning of a new semester, getting ready for you as well.  They update syllabi,  select new readings,  and create new or refine existing assignments.  Other offices and programs across the college, like the Women’s Center, Student Life, and Student Government also take time to create a calendar of programs too.

Every summer the College’s incredible Buildings and Grounds crew and Custodial staff work diligently to get the campus ready for your return in the fall.  And this summer was no exception (you can check out my IG for some vids).  There’s a new upstairs patio right outside the Hall of Flags.  The cafeteria is decked out with new tables and chairs.  The cafeteria is giving me school pride vibes because the chairs are orange and you can see the blue sea from the window).  The Financial Aid Office had a makeover and now there are handicap accessible counters and a kiosk students can use to look up their information.  The hallway (Breezeway) by the Bookstore had a makeover too! There are also mats at doors throughout the campus welcoming you to KCC and reminding you that your dreams begin here.  These are only a few of the things that have been done to get the campus ready for you.

KCC students, I want to know:Are you ready? Are you registered? If not, you can join the OPEN REGISTRATION ZOOM (no appt needed) https://bit.ly/kccfall2022on any of these days or times:

If you know me, you know I stay in your business: Have you figured out when you will incorporate study time into your schedule? Have you decided if you are going to join a student club? If this is your last semester, have you started thinking about where you want to transfer to? Or if you want to do an internship? Is there additional assistance that you need?  If so, email me at president@kbcc.cuny.eduand we will work to see if and how we can help.

KCC students, tick tock, the clock is ticking.  Get ready.  Not just for the start of the semester and a new academic year but for earning your college degree.  I know you have put in the work.  You are almost at the finish line and I can’t wait to see you:
