Dear KCC Students,

What’s your hype song? The song that gets you up, puts you in a good mood, and makes you feel powerful? The one that makes you feel that you can do anything that you set your mind to?

Mine is “Who we be” by DMX.  Some mornings I need a little extra motivation.  So, as I drive into work thinking about my day ahead, worrying about potential challenges, and all that I need to accomplish, I turn my windows up and blast my hype song. Today though, I played my hype song for a whole other reason; I played it for you.  

As you wrap up this last week of classes and head into final eXams, I want you to remember who you are.  You are powerful beyond measure.  There are many things you could have done with your time and money over this past year, but you chose to invest in yourself, your future, and your family by pursuing your college degree.  You have worked hard, and even when you may not have done as well as you wanted on a test or assignment, you resolved to do better the next time... and you did.  You were an active participant in your classes, you sought academic support when you needed it and you set aside time in your schedule to study.   

I want you to keep that same energy this week.  Eat well, get enough rest, set aside time to study and give it all that you got.  Show them who you are.
