pass it on

Dear KCC Students,

Where did the year go?  Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day already!  I know many people are preparing big meals, eagerly awaiting a big spread of food, traveling to family, or preparing for family to visit.  For some of you this is your favorite holiday of the year, but for others who don’t have anywhere to go, who don’t know where their next meal will come from, and who are without family, this day can be difficult.  And then there are people like me, who believe that Thanksgiving is just another day.  Let me explain.

Growing up I was taught that I shouldn’t wait until Thanksgiving to show appreciation, just like I shouldn’t wait until Valentines, or someone’s birthday to tell or show them how much I love and appreciate them.  So, I do my very best in big and small ways and through community service to make a difference for others and to let my family and friends know how special they are all throughout the year.

KCC students, if I haven’t said it lately, I am saying it now, thank you for choosing KCC as your academic home.  Just like you will gain a college degree from KCC, we gain so much from your presence here.  Thank you for filling our classrooms, hallways and college with your fantastic energy and amazing light.   Now pass it on……take some time out to let someone know how much you appreciate them.

Have a great Thanksgiving Day!

President Schrader
