President’s Weekly Messages to Students
A Box of Chocolate
May 23, 2023
Dear KCC Students,
In the movie Forrest Gump, the main character Forrest is sitting on a bench by a park when he is joined by a woman who is reading a book. He introduces himself to her. He is the middle of eating chocolates and offers the woman some. She doesn’t take him up on his offer. Forrest goes on to say that his mother always told him, life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna to get… in other words life is unpredictable.
Although life may be unpredictable at times, I want you to know that you have the power not to leave your success at KCC to chance.
As we approach the end of the semester, take control of your success and your future by ensuring you have completed all your assignments to date, and have made time in your schedule to study for final exams and complete your final projects. It is not too late to find a study buddy, get academic support / tutoring in the Kingsborough Learning Center.
Don’t leave your success to chance. It is also not too early to start planning for the summer, fall and beyond. For some of you it means registering for the fall semester and for others it means transferring to a four-year school, landing an internship, or walking in the doors to a new career.
I can’t wait to see it all come to fruition, because from where I stand, your future looks sweet.
-President Schrader
