President’s Weekly Messages to Students

Straight A Students

Dear KCC Students,

I like the way you’ve been focusing on your school work, going to class, getting your assignments done, writing papers, and studying for quizzes, tests and exams. For many of you, earning your college degree is one of the many things you have going on in your life.  I am humbled by the way you juggle a full-time or part-time job (and in some cases both), an internship, family responsibilities and in many cases the responsibilities that come along with being in other organizations and groups that are important to you.

When I went to college, I was fortunate that all I had to do was focus on my school work.  But this was not the case for my parents.  Both my mom and my dad didn’t attend college out of high school.  My dad earned is GED while he was in the military. After my parents were married, they worked full and sometimes part-time jobs and raised four children, while earning their associate degrees, baccalaureate and graduate degrees.   I know it wasn’t easy for them, and for a young Claudia (me), it wasn’t always easy not having them around.  But I knew then that they had important educational goals.  Maybe that is why education has always been so important to me, and not just my own education, but yours.

I want you to take moment today and pat yourself on your back for earning all A’s from me.

You Aspired to earn your college degree and you are turning your Aspirations into Action. You wisely selected Kingsborough Community College, so that the cost of your degree would be Affordable.  You have many responsibilities, but you made the needed Adjustments to Add a college degree to your list of goals.  You are at KCC taking Advantage of everything the college has to offer, from receiving Academic support, to Attending events on campus. You seek Advisement when you needed it and you know that your success is Absolutely Achievable.

KCC Students, I am so proud of you all.  We are almost at the end of the semester.  Continue to give it All you have, and know that we are here to help you succeed
