Coming Attractions: Your Success!

Coming Attractions: Your Success!

Dear KCC Students,

I can’t tell you the last time I went to the movies.  Truth be told, although I like the comfy theater seats, I don’t particularly like going to the movies or the price of popcorn.  I prefer to watch movies from the comfort of my couch where I can press rewind when I miss something, or press pause to talk on the phone.  But between KCC and my community service work, I haven’t had the opportunity to watch anything of interest.… that is, until last night.  I was surfing through Netflix movie options, when I stumbled upon a movie entitled Nyad.   I pressed play and two minutes into the flick I was already hooked.

I won’t spoil it for you, but I will tell you that Nyad reminded me of what each one of us is capable of when we put our mind to something.  I was also reminded that although we may encounter challenges, failures, people who don’t believe in us, and self-doubt when we don’t believe in ourselves, it is in each one of us ask for help when we need it, to get up, brush ourselves off, and push through again and again until we reach our goals. I don’t mind telling you, that I am a sap. I cried at the end of Nyad, not because I was sad, but because I was overcome with joy because of what the main character accomplished.

KCC students, I am so glad I have a front row seat to witness your success.  I can’t wait to see what you will accomplish this semester, this academic year, when you graduate, when you transfer, when you secure the job that you want and when you excel in the career that you have always wanted.

It’s time to get moving.  Registration for the Spring 2024 is already underway.  Connect with your advisor. Register and secure the classes you need before there are no seats available.   https://www.kbcc.cuny.edu/session/index.html

As always, if you are experiencing challenges, please do not hesitate to let me know so that I can refer you to someone who can help you.
