My Turn Volunteer Opportunities

In addition to taking college courses for college credit My Turn students are invited to share their life experiences at the college.
The My Turn office is always in need of volunteers who are willing to answer the telephone and help with an assortment of office tasks.
Prior to and during the four registration periods at the college, volunteers after a short training period can assist other My Turn students in selecting courses.
The following two mentoring programs are also available to all My Turn students.
The “Talking Buddies”- in this project a My Turn student is paired with an ESL student who needs to develop better English language skills. The twosome agree to meet one time a week for an hour during which time they practice colloquial English.
The “Board of Education” special needs project- for one hour a week at a designated time, all the volunteers meet as a group with the special needs students. In a group setting the My Turn students each work one on one with an individual student. The students need assistance with basic Mathematic and English skills.
