Biography

Wendy Chu is a Reader Services Librarian at the Robert J. Kibbee Library in Kingsborough Community College. She started her position in 2011, and has been acquiring valuable working experiences in the library functions: Access Services, Serials, Reference, Bibliographic Instruction, Subject Collection Development, and Faculty Liaison Support.

Wendy strongly believes in the individual’s obligation to themselves to develop the critical thinking skills and literacies necessary for this information society, and hence the importance of the role of librarianshipin the 21st century.

Courses

Wendy collaborates with college faculty to advance student research skills in class workshops held in library labs.

Education

Wendy holds an MLS from the Queens College (CUNY) Graduate School of Library & Information Science.

She also has an MBA in Accounting and in a previous life, was a tax associate at an accounting firm.

College Teaching

Since 2011, Wendy has been an embedded librarian collaborating with college faculty to provide bibliographic instruction to Kingsborough students.

Selected Publications and/or Other Resources

Wendy is committed to scholarly research in the library field. Her first publication is entitled “Implementation as Ongoing and Incremental: Case Study of Web 2.0 Use for Staff Communication” in the Journal of Access Services (2012). Research Interests

Wendy is focused on all aspects of academic librarianship.

Personal Interests

A food lover, Wendy has ambition to roast a Peking Duck like a Master Chef (without the melodrama of the show.)
