Biography

John Acosta is a Professor and the Director of Media for the City University of New York at Kingsborough Community College in the department of Communications & Performing Arts. Prof. Acosta received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Production from the City University of New York at Hunter College and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Television Production from the City University of New York at Brooklyn College. Prof. Acosta's professional credits include the ABC/DreamWorks Sitcom "Spin City", the PBS/American Playhouse Documentary Series "An American Love Story", the Nickelodeon/Nick Jr. Animated Series "Little Bill", and at UNICEF's Division of Communication in New York City. Prof. Acosta has taught courses for Film/Video Arts, the East Coast Training Program at the Motion Picture Editors Guild, Borough of Manhattan Community College, LaGuardia Community College, and The Exploring Transfer program at Vassar College. Prof. Acosta's Creative Works include videos edited for the Archive Committee of the Motion Picture Editors Guild (Interview with Peter C. Frank), and the Education Committee of the International Cinematographers Guild (Lighting Workshop & Digital Symposium), and the New York Production Alliance (Faces of New York Film & Television Production). Prof. Acosta's Speaking Engagements have included Broadcast Education Association (BEA) and Creative Content World (CCW) Conferences. Prof. Acosta is a member of the Broadcast Education Association, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, Friends of the American Society of Cinematographers, and Honorably Withdrew from the Motion Picture Editors Guild in 2007.
