Gabrielle Kahn, Assistant Professor in the Department of English and member of the full-time faculty since 2006, is co-director of ESL/ENG 91 and coordinator of the Intensive ESL Learning Community Program. Since coming to Kingsborough, she has been privileged to partner with interdisciplinary faculty from across the college to explore best practices in developmental education, and can’t imagine teaching any way other than “team teaching.” Prior to her current position, she taught classes and workshops in TESOL methodology as an adjunct instructor in the TESOL Program at Teachers College, Columbia University, while completing her doctoral work.
Gabrielle has taught ESL students at all levels, and has led a Faculty Interest Group at the Kingsborough Center for Teaching and Learning, Strategies for Success with ESL Students Across the Curriculum. She serves as a member of the Kingsborough Learning Community Assessment Team, and received a 2012-2013 Kingsborough President’s Faculty Innovation Award with Cindy Greenberg, Professor of Communications and Performing Arts, for their project, Using Digital Storytelling with ESL Students.
