The Culinary Arts program at Kingsborough Community College is a comprehensive training program designed for successful entry into the creative, high-paced workplaces of the food industry. We offer two programs to set you on your career path:

Associate of Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts—a 60 credit (2 year) college degree, including over 600 hours of hands-on kitchen classes and internship.

Certificate in Culinary Arts and Food Management—a one-year certificate designed for students who already have a college degree in another field.

Distinctive program features include:

A real-world internship in a professional kitchen.
Real college credit transferable within and beyond CUNY.
Special topics courses (change each time) with guest chefs on topics of interest such as chocolate making, regional cuisine from around the world, butchery, and culinary competition preparation.
An on-campus learning restaurant where you learn to work in the kitchen and dining room of a fine dining restaurant in a safe, mentored environment.
A capstone experience in culinary improvisation and creativity—learning cooking by method rather than by recipe.
A student catering firm—full-time students can earn money by catering events on campus.
A food product development incubator—students can use college kitchens to develop a food business.
Eligibility for industry certifications from the National Restaurant Association (ServSafe, ServSafe Alcohol, ManageFirst), American Culinary Federation (Certified Culinarian) and New York City Department of Health (Certified Food Handler)

Upon graduation students enter the workplace or transfer to a baccalaureate institution.
