Physical Therapist Assistant Program

Steven B. Skinner, PT, MS, EdD
Director
 

Professor Skinner is a physical therapist with over 25 years of experience.  He has served as the director since the inception of the program.  Prof. Skinner earned his physical therapy degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  He subsequently earned a masters degree from QueensCollege in Adapted Physical Education.  He has also earned a doctorate in education with a concentration in health care education from NovaSoutheasternUniversity.

Professor Skinner has an extensive clinical and administrative employment history.  He has served as a staff and senior physical therapist at several metropolitan health care facilities, as well as 10 years of experience as a chief administrator of physical therapy services at three different local facilities.  He has owned and operated his own private practice and has served as guest and adjunct lecturer at area colleges.   

Christina McVey, PT, MA
Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education
 

Professor McVey is a physical therapist with over fifteen years of clinical experience.  She has served as the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education since the inception of the program.  Prof. Hurley earned her physical therapy degree from QuinnipiacCollege.  She subsequently earned a masters degree in health administration from HofstraUniversity.

Professor McVey’s clinical and administrative experience includes service as a staff, senior, supervising and coordinating therapist at a major metropolitan area health care facility.  She maintains active clinical practice in pediatrics and general physical therapy services.

 

Victor O. Broder, PTA
College Laboratory Technician

Mr. Broder earned a B.A.degree in Economics from Brooklyn College in 1979. He earned an A.S. degree in Pre-Physical Therapy at Kingsborough Community College in 1997 and subsequently earned an A.A.S. in Physical Therapist Assistant from New York University.   

Prior to joining the Kingsborough faculty, Mr. Broder served as a PTA in a local general physical therapy practice.  He continues to provide physical therapy services on an on-call basis.

  

Michael Mattia, PT, MS, DPT
Adjunct Lecturer

Mr. Mattia has successfully completed academic and clinical course work at TempleUniversity, Long IslandUniversity, and SUNYHealthSciencesCenter at Brooklyn. He has over 25 years of clinical experience and owns and operates a local community private practice.

 

 

James Nettleton, PT, MS
Adjunct Lecturer

Mr. Nettleton has successfully completed academic and clinical preparation at Long IslandUniversity and SUNYHealthSciencesCenter at Brooklyn.  He has over 30 years of clinical experience.  Mr. Nettleton serves as a clinician-administrator at a local medical center, and provides home-based physical therapy services.
