Why choose Kingsborough?

COST:  Why spend a lot of money earning core credits towards your major? You can save thousands of dollars by completing your first two years of study at Kingsborough Community College.

BETTER TRANSFER OPPORTUNITIES:  Senior colleges look favorably on students who have earned associate’s degree.  Not only will you save money by completing your first two years at Kingsborough, if you apply yourself, you might find yourself eligible for scholarships not available to other students.  Our advisors in the Career Center are here to help ease your transition to a four-year college.

CHOICE:  You can choose from over 40 degree and certificate programs at Kingsborough.  You can also take classes during the day, evening and/or weekends.  And most NYC residents qualify for our 2-for-1 plan:  Full-time degree students who meet CUNY’s residency requirements for in-state tuition may be eligible to attend the 6-week module at no charge!  (Check with an advisor in the Academic Advisement Center to find out if you qualify.)

LEARNING COMMUNITIES:  Our award-winning learning communities, created especially for entering freshman, have been proven to help you succeed in college.

STUDENTSERVICES:  From tutoring to personal counseling to career advise to help transferring to a 4-year college, we’ve got your back!  We’ll work with you every step of the way to help you meet your educational, social and personal potential.

STUDENT CLUBS:  With 80 clubs to choose from – and club hours set aside during the week – you’ll never be at a loss for something to do or people to meet.

HONORS PROGRAM:  Our Honors Program offers enriched academic experiences and co-curricular opportunities for highly motivated and academically-capable students who want to enhance their Kingsborough education.  Benefits include honors-only classes taught by dedicated faculty; opportunities to study abroad and off campus; and membership in Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

CULTURE:  KCC presents many free and low-cost community events each year including a free summer music festival; performances for children and classes; and a year-long performing arts festival.  (And students get discounts on most ticketed events.)

SPORTS:  KCC’s Athletic Department offers a variety of intercollegiate teams including men's and women’s basketball, track, tennis, baseball, and soccer teams and women’s volleyball.  KCC is a member of the NJCAA and the CUNYconference.  We also offer a comprehensive intramural program in our award-winning gym and pool facility, covering many sports for men and women throughout the school year.

BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS:  Being surrounded with beautiful views, architecture, and art work is conducive to learning.  Throughout the campus you can find quiet places to study and or to gaze at the waterfront that hugs the campus on three sides.  Oh yeah, and did we mention we have our own private beach?


  Kingsborough Community College was named one of the top community colleges in the United States by the New York Times (2007).

  According to Community College Week, Kingsborough consistently ranks in the upper half of the top 100 community colleges in the country to award Associate degrees to minority students and the number of Associate degrees awarded in total.

  Kingsborough received an award from Phi Theta Kappa, the national community college honor society, for the chapter with the largest growth.
