Biography

Eduardo Lolo

Dr. Eduardo Lolo (1948) is a Full Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Literatures at Kingsborough Community College, where he has been teaching since 1994.  In addition to his pedagogical duties, he serves as the Spanish Program Coordinator of the Foreign Language Department, the Department’s liaison with the College Library, and the Department’s webmaster.  He has been an active member of several KCC’s faculty committees such as the Liberal Arts Task Force, the KCC Association Board of Directors, etc.  He is actually a member of the KCC Awards Committee, and the Department's Personnel and Budget Committee.  Dr. Lolo has been faculty advisor to several students’ clubs such as the Spanish-American Cultural Club and the Foreign Language Association; he is currently the faculty advisor to the Sigma Delta Mu Honor Society.

Dr. Lolo is the author of several books (two of them published by university presses: the University of Miami/U.S.A. and Universidad Nacional de Rosario/Argentina) and dozens of articles, assays and poems published in academic journals and other publications in the U.S.A. and abroad.  Several scholars and journalists, also in academic journals and other publications in the USA and abroad, have positively reviewed his books.

Dr. Lolo is affiliated to several national and international academic and literary institutions.  In this capacity, he has been elected by his peers to serve in different posts, such as member of the National Membership Committee of The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), the Executive Council of the National Board of Directors of the Pan-American Cultural Circle (Círculo de Cultura Panamericano), the International Committee of the Children’s Literature Association (ChLA), and the MLA International Bibliography Advisory Committee, etc.  He is currently a member of the CUNY Council on World Language Study, a Senior Bibliographer for the worldwide-recognized MLA International Bibliography, and President of the Commission on Bibliography and Journal Records of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE as per its Spanish acronym, an affiliated member of the Royal Spanish Academy).

Among other distinctions, Dr. Lolo has received the Golden Letters Award (Premio Letras de Oro) conferred by the Instituto de Estudios Ibéricos and the University of Miami (Spain/USA), the Silver Medal and Certificate Award granted to foreign scholars by the Société Académique d’Éducation et d’Encouragement (France), and the Theodore Huebener Award bestowed by the AATSP in New York.  He also received a Ceremonial Resolution from the Joint Legislature of the State of New Jersey (the Senate and General Assembly) in recognition of his civic service as a scholar, and the Seal of the City of Elizabeth (NJ).
