Description

This training program will prepare students for the New York State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) examination. A certified NYS EMT can work or volunteer anywhere in New York State. Students will learn basic life-saving techniques, including scene safety, patient assessment, fracture management, bleeding control, patient movement, and oxygen administration. EMTs primarily perform emergency and transport ambulance work in the private, municipal, and hospital ambulance sectors.

College Credits

Upon completion, students will earn 6 college credits.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; 18 years of age by the last day of the month in which the certification exam is given and pass the pre-screening process. Acceptance to the EMT program will be based on an interview with the coordinator before the class begins.
