Program Director

Michael Mattia, PT DPT MS MHA is a graduate of the SUNY Downstate College of Health Related Professions class of 1980. He has been a member of the APTA and NYPTA since 1979.  Dr. Mattia began his career at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City.  He received his Master of Science in Physical Therapy in Physical Therapy from the Long Island University Brooklyn in 1985.  During that same year, Dr. Mattia founded Mattia Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, LLC an independent private Physical Therapy practice located in Brooklyn, NY, which has just celebrated its 30th year of service to the community. 
He received his DPT from Temple University in 2005 and a Master of Health Administration from Ohio University in 2012. Dr. Mattia is the President of the New York Physical Therapy Association and has presented many lectures to health care practitioners and to the community on the role of the physical therapist in health, wellness, prevention, and rehabilitation.  His unique skill set and career experiences have enabled him to successfully lead his organizations in a rapidly evolving health care delivery system. 

Christina McVey, PT, MA
Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education

Professor McVey is a physical therapist with over 25 years of clinical experience.  She is currently the Interim Director of the PTA program and also serves as the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education.  Prof. McVey earned her physical therapy degree from Quinnipiac College.  She subsequently earned a master's degree in health administration from Hofstra University.

Professor McVey's clinical and administrative experience includes service as a staff, senior, supervising and coordinating therapist at a major metropolitan area health care facility.  She also has experience in pediatric and general outpatient physical therapy services.

Victor O. Broder, PTA
College Laboratory Technician

Mr. Broder earned a B.A. degree in Economics from Brooklyn College in 1979. He earned an A.S. degree in Pre-Physical Therapy at Kingsborough Community College in 1997 and subsequently earned an A.A.S. in Physical Therapist Assistant from New York University.   
Prior to joining the Kingsborough faculty, Mr. Broder served as a PTA in a local general physical therapy practice.  He continues to provide physical therapy services on an on-call basis.

Mark Amir, PT, DPT, Dip MDT
Adjunct Lecturer

Dr.Amir obtained a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Touro College in 1993 after graduating from Brooklyn College with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education. In 1998, he was one of the select few international graduates of the McKenzie Institute, where he became a diplomate of MDT (Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy). He received his Doctorate Degree in 2010. In 2016, Mark obtained a Masters in Public Health degree from the City University of New York.

Elizabeth Tagney, PT, DPT, MS
Adjunct Lecturer

Dr.Tagney is a Physical Therapist with over 10 years of clinical experience in various settings. She received her MS in Physical Therapy at Sacred Heart University, her DPT at Temple University and a BS in Human Movement and Exercise Science at Sacred Heart University.
