OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS & GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
The Office of Communications & Government Relations is the official voice of the college, and the source for
Kingsborough Community College news, information, subject matter experts, and college-wide events.
From communications strategies that include public relations, marketing and advertising, to government and legislative affairs, social media and website
management, as well as creative, editorial, and production services, the office directs these effort to help effectively communicate and inform the public
and college community about the quality and diversity of the learning environment at KCC; the level of scholarship and research; and KCC’s dedication to
finding practical educational solutions to prepare students for graduation, transfer to senior colleges, or to enter the workforce.
Media & Public Relations. Press Releases & Advisories. Subject Matter Experts. The department connects reporters to faculty, staff, and students to share stories about its research, people, and programs.
The department also responds to media inquiries, works with administrative units and the faculty to write and distribute press releases
and advisories, and provides subject matter experts to help promote news and information to various audiences through local, state,
national and international media outlets.

Social Media.Web Services. Marketing. Advertising.Multimedia. The department will continue to use a variety of communication methods to reach the public which includes prospective and current students, parents, supporters, and the media, among others through an expanding social media presence, an enhanced website, as well as advertising and marketing
monitoring social media feeds to manage the KCC social media presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter
writing and producing content and posting responses as needed
maintaining social media communication with the broad public, students, and alumni with notification of news, events, job fairs, and more
overseeing institutional website design, content development, including graphic and brand coordination of web applications
providing non-technical maintenance of up-to-date information on the website
developing advertising strategies and marketing campaigns to provide strategic and creative direction and/or support
strengthening awareness of the college’s brand and identity, specific programs, and initiatives for departments that drive student enrollment and retention
managing ad buys and placements
Creative & Design Services. Print Production & Support. Photographic Services. The department provides creative in-house design services for the college campus that include, editorial, multimedia, photography (as available),
and production in coordination with campus initiatives and events, and assures compliance with college and CUNY graphic identity policies, guidelines,
and requirements. All designs, and the majority of the printing and production services, are completed on our campus.
Design & Production Services
conceptualizing, designing, and producing print and digital materials
overseeing and producing the college’s electronic publications and marketing collateral, including the annual report, flyers, stationery, brochures, business cards, invitations, banners, event programs/journals, and print advertising
providing guidance and purchasing recommendations on all aspects of print and electronic production support
Video Production & Photographic Services
creating promotional video materials for admissions recruitment, student retention, fundraising, special events, and the KCC website
coordinating and maintaining library of faculty and staff portraits
maintaining digital photography gallery and archives for college
providing photography support for on-campus events (as available)
Government Relations & Civic Engagement plays a critical role in working to strengthen the college’s relationships
at all levels of government and with the community. Government Relations serves as the College’s official liaison, and is the first line in communicating with elected and
appointed government officials. In collaboration with the City University of New York, the Office coordinates advocacy efforts for the University's legislative agenda,
promotes civic engagement among the college community, and organizes events that directly engage government officials in the life of the College.
NOTE: Faculty and staff seeking to engage elected and other political officials regarding appearances, or funding
requests must do so in collaboration with the Government Affairs Office.
Government & Community Relations
serves as the official college liaison and point-of-contact for all legislative matters and community matters, and all engagement of elected and appointed officials
develops in conjunction with University Government Relations, short- and long-term legislative policies, objectives, and strategies in support of the mission and priorities of CUNY and the college
provides critical legislative analysis, strategy, and counsel in support of the college’s mission and priorities
oversees strategic planning, programming, and operations of the college’s Center for Civic Engagement
provides expertise and support for faculty, staff, and students seeking to establish civic engagement courses and projects—in conjunction with the office of Academic Affairs
provides leadership on national civic engagement projects and programs
supervises the college’s CUNY Service Corps Program
