I've heard about Peer Advisors; who are they?

• Peer Advisors are students who enjoy helping their fellow students.
• They staff a Peer Advisor booth, located near the bookstore and college cafeteria.
• Peer Advisors assist freshmen during freshman orientation by giving tours and providing information to newly entering students.
• Peer Advisors give direction and assistance to students and their families during Family Day.

Can anybody be a Peer Advisor?
YES - well almost. First and foremost, you must have a sincere desire to help your fellow student. You must have at least a 2.00 index, and you must pick up an application in the Student Life Office, Room C-123. Complete and return it, and make an appointment for an interview. You're always welcome to stop and see us in the Student Life Office (C-123) any time Monday through Friday, 9a.m until 5p.m.

How will I know how to help my fellow students?
Don't worry, you'll be trained! You will learn communication skills, leadership skills, and experience sensitivity workshops.

Once you're accepted into the program, you'll be asked to provide us with a copy of your class schedule. This is done so that we may place you into one of many training groups. We ensure that the training does not interfere with your classes.

The training sessions meet once a week for six weeks. After the third session all participants and faculty are expected to attend a weekend retreat. This training weekend is mandatory. The best part is.. IT'S FREE!

Sounds good, but what's in it for me?
Fair question. How do you like meeting new people and making new friends? Being a Peer Advisor makes you very visible to the campus community, and that means you will meet many faculty and administrative members of our College.

Where's the Student Life office, and who's there?

The office of Student Life is located in Room C-123. It's the place to go if you want to learn about our clubs, student government, College Center programs or about anything that pertains to you, the student!

The office of Student Life is the home of the Director of Student Life, Dean Angelo Pappagallo.
